Update on Childcare Offer for Wales

The Childcare Offer for Wales offer is a Welsh Government initiative that offers working families of 3 and 4 year olds up to 30 hours per week of combined FPN education and additional funded childcare.

RCT was one of the first local authorities in Wales to launch the Childcare Offer in September 2017. It is now available in every LA in Wales. We also process applications on behalf of Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend CBC’s.

What is the Offer?

For those of you who are not aware, eligibility for the Childcare Offer in RCT is:

  • Children must reside in RCT.
  • Both parents, or cohabiting couple (or lone parent) must earn the equivalent of 16 hours per week at national minimum wage or National Living Wage, or above. There is an upper income limit of £100,000 income per person per year.
  • It is from the term following a child’s 3rd birthday until the September following their 4th (they cease to be eligible when they start Reception year).

To apply for the offer, parents/carers should go to and click on the parent link. Here they will find an eligibility checker which they must answer successfully to access the online application form.

I would be grateful if you could continue to promote the offer to your parents and other networks. I have attached an electronic copy of our flyer – if you would like printed copies, please let us know.

Nursery intake meetings

In previous years we have attended many school nursery intake meetings during the summer term. Obviously last year this was not possible, and we appreciate that they may not happen in person this year either. However, if you are planning any type of welcome event (face to face or via video conferencing) for your September nursery intake, we would be very pleased to attend so that we can promote the Offer directly to them.

If you would like us to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. We are a small team so our capacity is limited, but we will do our best to attend as many events as possible!

If you have any queries, please get in touch. We are all still working remotely, but our office landline number is transferred to our mobiles, so please either ring or email us on:
